NWEA has partnered with Khan Academy to create a set of resources for teachers that are aligned to NWEA RIT scores and Common Core State Standards. These free resources include interactive videos and tech-enabled questions for both teachers and students. To find these resources, go to our district website ( www.phasd.us ) and follow the steps detailed below:
1. On the District website, go to About Us
2. Click on Instruction
3. Scroll down to the NWEA Map section and click on PHASD MAP Log-in

Erin Peyerk is the Port Huron Schools Administrator for the NWEA site. Every staff member has a login. Feel free to contact Erin if you do not know your login information.
4. Under View Reports (at the left), click on MAP Growth Reports.
4. Under View Reports (at the left), click on MAP Growth Reports.
Note: After a profile is created for a new user, it takes 24 hours to take effect, so a new user cannot access reports until the next day.
5. About half-way down, click on Learning Continuum.
6. Scroll down to Open Educational Resources Searchable by RIT and click Khan Academy Resources by RIT.
7. Under the MAP to Khan Academy: Khan Academy Practice Exercises Correlated to RIT area, scroll down and choose your grade level: MAP Growth Grades K-2, MAP Growth Grades 2-5 or MAP Growth Grades 6+. Each has both a PDF and a Word download, and each has many Khan Academy links to use.
8. Opening the document will take you to an instructional handout for Khan Academy. You can search by topic, by RIT score or by Common Core Standard. Click on any of the links to get to the Khan website, where you will find several questions, activities and videos. Below is a typical example that a Geometry teacher would see for Axis of symmetry. Clicking on the link would bring up the graphic shown below, along with questions. It cycles through the questions for the student until he or she gets five correct.
9. You can also go to http://www.khanacademy.org and click on Add Students to set up your classes. Then, you will get a Dashboard which shows student progress. Each student would need to log in with their Gmail account. Teachers can do a Skyward export to Excel of their class rosters - to obtain all of their student e-mail addresses and passwords.
10. Another option for adding students is to create a Class within Khan Academy. This will give you a class code. When students log in for the first time, they will type the class code to be entered into your Khan class.
The Khan Academy resources offer a variety of options for teachers. They can be used for whole-group re-teaching, for individual student practice or extension. If you need further support or have questions about this tool, please contact Mark Repp or Erin Peyerk for more information.
